President Biden Issues a Memorandum on Extending Eligibility for Deferred Enforced Departure for Liberians 

President Biden issued a Memorandum on Extending Eligibility for Deferred Enforced Departure for Liberians to the secretaries of state and homeland security that defers through June 30, 2026, the removal of any Liberian national, or person without nationality who last habitually resided in Liberia, who is present in the United States and who was under Deferred Enforced Departure (DED) as of June 30, 2024. It also defers the removal of any Liberian national, or person without nationality who last habitually resided in Liberia, who has been continuously physically present in the United States since May 20, 2017. In addition, President Biden continued through June 30, 2026, employment authorization for individuals included in these categories. We will publish a Federal Register notice as soon as possible to implement the president’s memorandum.

Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Haiti Extended and Redesignated for 18 Months; Certain Employment Authorization Documents (EADs) Automatically Extended Through Aug. 3, 2025

Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas extended and redesignated Haiti for TPS for 18 months, from Aug. 4, 2024, through Feb. 3, 2026. Given the time frames for processing TPS re-registration applications, USCIS has automatically extended through Aug. 3, 2025, the validity of EADs issued under the prior TPS designation of Haiti with a Card Expires date of: • Aug. 3, 2024; • June 30, 2024; • Feb. 3, 2023; • Dec. 31, 2022; • Oct. 4, 2021; • Jan. 4, 2021; • Jan. 2, 2020; • July 22, 2019; • Jan. 22, 2018; or • July 22, 2017.

USCIS Issues Notices Extending Certain TPS EADs Through March 9, 2025

USCIS is issuing Form I-797, Notice of Action, to certain Temporary Protected Status (TPS) beneficiaries who are eligible to re-register for TPS or have a pending application to renew their Form I-766, Employment Authorization Document (EAD). This notice further extends the validity of their EAD through March 9, 2025.
SAVE Updates Have A New Email Address

On June 18, USCIS updated its email messaging service to enhance the security and authenticity of its communications. Messages will now come from uscis@messages.dhs.gov rather than the previously used  "@public.govdelivery.com" domain.Additionally, messages will now be consistently sent as bulletins on behalf of our DHS Secretary and USCIS Director. This will help unify our communications and reinforce a trusted source of our information.We are continually working to better serve you. Stay tuned for more! 
Coming Soon! SAVE is Enhancing Security for Account Login

Later this year, SAVE browser users will begin using Login.gov to log into SAVE. This change will require users to enter more information than just a password through a process called multi-factor authentication. For example, along with the password, users may be asked to enter a code sent to their email or phone. Enhancing the SAVE login process:Helps prevent unauthorized account access if a system password has been compromised; andMinimizes risks due to human error, misplaced passwords, and lost devices. Stay tuned for more!

New COA for Western Hemisphere Parole

DHS has issued a new class of admission (COA) known as Western Hemisphere Parole (WHP). This announcement provides information about documentation and the SAVE verification process to individuals who are paroled into the United States with the WHP COA. Individuals with this COA can be paroled, on a case-by-case basis, for up to three years.

New Classes of Admission for Surviving Spouses and Children of Certain Afghan and Iraqi Special Immigrants

This announcement provides information about three new classes of admission (COAs) for the surviving spouses and children of deceased Afghans and Iraqis who previously worked for or on the behalf of the U.S. government. The new COAs are:SW1: Surviving Spouse or child of an SQ1-eligible person;SW2: Current spouse of SW1; andSW3: Unmarried child of SW1.Individuals with these COAs are lawful permanent residents (LPRs). LPRs are employment authorized incident to their LPR status.They may present the following documentation that includes a SW1, SW2, or SW3 COA:Form I-551, Permanent Resident Card (Green Card);Form I-94, Arrival/Departure Record with a Temporary I-551 Permanent Resident Stamp;Foreign passport with a Temporary I-551 Permanent Resident Stamp; orForeign passport with a Temporary I-551 Machine Readable Immigrant Visa.For additional information about documentation, please visit SAVE’s Commonly Used Immigration Documents webpage.SAVE VerificationSAVE can provide an initial verification response of “Lawful Permanent Resident – Employment Authorized” for a COA of SW1, SW2, or SW3.
