• Initial Verification Response Time: SAVE provides an initial response within seconds. Most requests are verified at initial verification and do not require additional verification.
• Additional Verification Response Time: Approximately 4 federal workdays as of October 2024.

Tips for Reducing Response Times

Additional verification occurs when SAVE cannot provide a response at initial verification or the agency requests additional verification. Additional verification takes more time because a manual review is generally required. Response times vary depending upon the complexity of the case.

To minimize the need for additional processing times, agencies should follow these best practices when submitting a SAVE case:

• Ensure that the applicant’s name, date of birth, and immigration enumerators are entered exactly as they appear on the applicant’s immigration documentation. Data entry errors often require additional manual verification to resolve.
• Include all immigration enumerators provided by the applicant. For example, if the applicant presents a Form I-766, Employment Authorization Document, and a Form I-94, Arrival/Departure Record, enter the USCIS number from the I-766 and the I-94 number into SAVE. Examples of immigration documents and the enumerators contained in them are available on the SAVE Commonly Used Immigration Documents webpage.

If an applicant needs their most recent Form I-94 issued by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), they can use CBP’s I-94 website to retrieve a copy.
