Case Status Online Now Available for Form I-600A, Form I-600, Form I-600A/I-600 Supplement 3, Form I-800A, Form I-800, and Form I-800A Supplement 3

On July 1, 2024, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) expanded the Case Status Online tool to allow intercountry adoption applicants and petitioners, and their attorneys or accredited representatives, to check their case status online. This expansion applies to:

  • Form I-600A, Application for Advance Processing of an Orphan Petition;

  • Form I-600, Petition to Classify Orphan as an Immediate Relative;

  • Form I-600A/I-600 Supplement 3 (Request for Action on Approved Form I-600A/I-600) (PDF, 514.3 KB);

  • Form I-800A, Application for Determination of Suitability to Adopt a Child from a Convention Country;

  • Form I-800, Petition to Classify Convention Adoptee as an Immediate Relative; and

  • Form I-800A Supplement 3 (Request for Action on Approved Form I-800A) (PDF, 345.87 KB).

Individuals can now use the Case Status Online tool to check the status of cases filed using these forms, without needing to call or email USCIS. This case status online tool includes the most recent information on a case, including the issuance of a USCIS notice, receipt of a notice response, or issuance of a final decision. To check the status of one of these forms using the Case Status Online tool, enter a valid receipt number for the form. The receipt number is a unique 13-character identifier that consists of three letters and 10 numbers.

Previously, intercountry adoption stakeholders could only check case status information by contacting the Adoption Unit at USCIS’ National Benefits Center. You may still contact the Adoption Unit, but the Case Status Online tool may be faster and more efficient. Using the Case Status Online tool also reduces the volume of requests to the Adoption Unit, allowing USCIS to dedicate more time to case processing.

We encourage you to visit USCIS.gov for many other helpful tools, including our Processing Times and Adoption landing pages.
