Direct Filing Addresses for Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status

Alert: On Aug. 28, 2024, we published a new edition of:

  • Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status;
  • Form I-485 Supplement A, Supplement A to Form I-485, Adjustment of Status Under Section 245(i); and 
  • Form I-485 Supplement J, Confirmation of Bona Fide Job Offer or Request for Job Portability Under INA Section 204(j).

The new edition date is 08/28/24. Starting Oct. 28, we will accept only the 08/28/24 edition of Form I-485, and Supplements A and J. 

Where you file your Form I-485 depends on your eligibility category. Review the information below to see where you should file your application.

Applications that are not mailed to the correct address may experience processing delays.

Family-Based Adjustment

Use the applicable address in this section if you are filing as:

  • A spouse, parent, or unmarried son or daughter (under age 21) of a U.S. citizen and you are the beneficiary of an approved, pending or concurrently filed Form I-130;
  • A beneficiary of an approved Form I-130;
  • A spouse or child of an immigrant who has applied for adjustment of status or has been granted lawful permanent residence (a Green Card) through a family-sponsored visa category that allows derivative status for spouses and children; or
  • A beneficiary of an approved Form I-129F who was admitted to the United States as a K-1 nonimmigrant and married the U.S. citizen petitioner within 90 days, or their K-2 dependent.

T Nonimmigrant, U Nonimmigrant, or Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) Self-Petitioner (including under the Cuban Adjustment Act (CAA) for Abused Spouses and Children)

If you are the beneficiary of an accepted, or approved Form I-360, Petition for Amerasian, Widow(er), or Special Immigrant, based on the Abused Spouse/Child/Parent eligibility category (VAWA self-petitioner) and you are filing for adjustment of status, you must include a copy of the Form I-797, Notice of Action, showing that your Form I-360 was accepted or approved (if applicable).   • A pending or approved Form I-360 for an international organization employee or family member.
    • You must include a copy of your Form I-797, Notice of Action, showing we accepted or approved your Form I-360; or

    • A special immigrant religious worker;

  • A registry applicant filing Form I-485 based on birth in the United States to a foreign diplomat officer;
  • A former diplomat filing Form I-485 under section 13 of the Immigration Act of 1957; or
