Alert: Before sending your package to USCIS, make sure that all the forms you have completed are the current acceptable edition. The current acceptable edition can be found under the Edition Date section listed on each form’s webpage.
You can also find the edition date at the bottom of the page on the form and instructions. For each form that you are submitting, make sure that all pages are from the same form edition. Alert: On Aug. 28, 2024, we published a new edition of:
- Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status;
- Form I-485 Supplement A, Supplement A to Form I-485, Adjustment of Status Under Section 245(i); and
- Form I-485 Supplement J, Confirmation of Bona Fide Job Offer or Request for Job Portability Under INA Section 204(j).
The new edition date is 08/28/24. Starting Oct. 28, we will accept only the 08/28/24 edition of Form I-485, and Supplements A and J.
Where you file your Form I-485 depends on your eligibility category. Review the information below to see where you should file your application.
Applications that are not mailed to the correct address may experience processing delays.
Use the applicable address in this section if you are filing as:
- A spouse, parent, or unmarried son or daughter (under age 21) of a U.S. citizen and you are the beneficiary of an approved, pending or concurrently filed Form I-130;
- A beneficiary of an approved Form I-130;
- A spouse or child of an immigrant who has applied for adjustment of status or has been granted lawful permanent residence (a Green Card) through a family-sponsored visa category that allows derivative status for spouses and children; or
- A beneficiary of an approved Form I-129F who was admitted to the United States as a K-1 nonimmigrant and married the U.S. citizen petitioner within 90 days, or their K-2 dependent.

- Special immigrant juvenile; or

This does not apply to applicants in exclusion, deportation, or removal proceedings who have been charged as an “arriving alien” or are filing for adjustment of status based on T nonimmigrant status or U nonimmigrant status. We have exclusive jurisdiction over these adjustment of status applications. Please see instructions above to determine the USCIS filing locations for these adjustment of status applications.
- A registry applicant filing Form I-485 based on continuous residence in the United States since before Jan. 1, 1972;
- A diversity lottery winner eligible to file Form I-485;
- A public interest parolee from certain former Soviet and Southeast Asian countries filing Form I-485 under Pub. L. 101-167 (the “Lautenberg Amendment”);
- A registry applicant filing Form I-485 based on birth in the United States to a foreign diplomat officer;
- A former diplomat filing Form I-485 under section 13 of the Immigration Act of 1957; or
- An applicant who is a beneficiary of a private bill.
